The Junior Division is the first level in which a player plays the full field game of field hockey. These players are in 5th & 6th grade. It is strictly recreational and meant to be a fun introduction to the game of field hockey.
Junior field hockey emphasizes the basic skills, rules, and positioning used in field hockey.
The game is played on a full sized field approx. 60 yds x 100 yds.
Junior teams will play regulation 11 vs. 11 including a goalie during games. An overview of the basic rules of the full field game can be found in our Links section.
Most teams will be scheduled for 1 practice and 1 game per week. Practice days and locations will be determined by the individual coach. Games will tentatively be played on Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons at Eastern University in St. Davids.
Teams will be formed in August and players can expect to hear from their coaches in mid to late August. Games will be played beginning the weekend of Sept. 9th and 10th and will be played through the weekend of Oct. 28th and 29th.
